Purpose and Duty

Wow, everybody has their place and duty in life.  God uses everyone for particular places in life.  Look at all the different clans of Levites in Numbers 3-4.  They were set apart to do the work of keeping the Tabernacle running smoothly and each clan had a particular task.  Each clan had to do this particular task and purpose in a particular way or it would hinder the movement of the whole entire nation of Israel.  They had to dismantle and assemble the Tabernacle in a specific fashion, and each clan had its area or section they were responsible for.  I think we can learn from God’s specificity here.  God said that He has a particular plan for our lives (Jer 1:5; 29:11). We must seek that plan and when we get the vision walk in the order God gave it to us.  If we don’t the Church and the lives of others cannot go on the way they should.

You have an appointed time.  God only called those who were 30-50 years old to do work in the Tabernacle.  We must wait for our appointed time in life also.  Like my pastor says, it’s not just that timing is everything but that “God’s timing is everything.”  We must work in the right timing for our purpose to be fulfilled.

There is an order in which you execute your purpose.  God wants everything to be in order.  From your Spiritual authorities all the way down to how and when you make your moves.  The Levite clans had to do their duties in a specific order or the Tabernacle would not be dismantled correctly and there would be confusion and possibly lost of important items.  The Kohathites had to go first and secure the most Holy things after Aaron and his sons covered them.  Our most Holy things are our relationship with God, and His people, our integrity, our worth, our purpose.  Without taking care of those things first, in particular our RELATIONSHIP with God, all would be lost.  If the Kohathites didn’t secure the most Holy things, and the people of Israel got a glimpse of the innermost sanctuary of the Tabernacle God’s wrath would come down on the people.  Just as important is our RELATIONSHIP.  If we don’t hold that dear we run the risk of being destroyed spiritually and emotionally.  Then the Gershonites came in and removed the curtains that surrounded and partitioned the Tabernacle into its different rooms.  And finally the Merarites had to take down the structure, the frames, posts and bases of the Tabernacle.

The most important part of finding and walking in the purpose of your life, the God given purpose of your life, is your RELATIONSHIP with God.  He wants to be a part of your life so that He can show you the great things He has planned for you.  We should not be living in mediocrity but in the fullness of the amazing plans God has for our lives.  He says that He is able to do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Eph 3:20).  Once our RELATIONSHIP is secure then we can work on the details of the vision; the curtains, and structure of that vision, if you will.  The great thing about this walk is that once your RELATIONSHIP is established God continues to guide you and gives you the details and the how-to about the “immeasurably more” He has for you!  I thank God that He is continuing to show and reveal to me the details of my life…As I go everyday the dream and vision gets bigger and bigger.  I truly don’t know how I can do it….but I know the desires of my heart have been planted in me by God and He is definitely able and willing.  He can do the same for you!

Mark 5:24-29

“…A large crowd followed and pressed around Him.  And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.  She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.  When she heard of Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His cloak,  because she thought, “If just touch His clothes, I will be healed.”  Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was FREED from her suffering…”

For 12 long years she tried to seek for the answer on her own.  She looked to man to find healing for her ailment with no luck.  In fact she grew worse!  She sufferred through all types of treatments that she thought would work but they never did.  She spent ALL she had and still could not find an answer or solution.  She finally came to the end of her rope and found healing in Jesus Christ.  She had to risk being cast out of society and maybe even killed for coming out in public!! Levitical law said that since she was UNCLEAN she couldn’t be around other people and when she went out in public she had to shout “unclean, unclean”.  She risked everything because she knew this was her last hope.  If God (Jesus) couldn’t heal her there was no where else to go.

So many of us are like this right now.  We run around from man to man, from woman to woman, from friend to friend trying to find healing for the issues in our lives.  We run and drown ourselves in alcohol, in parties, in work, in school, in sex, in food, in everything but the ONE thing that can truly save us.  We spend all we have, all our money, all our emotions, all our hope in a quick fix that can only get to the surface of our issue and miss the one true hope..

He says come to me all you lonely and downtrodden.  He says He came to heal the sick and the brokenhearted. He says that He came for the sick (Matt 9:12) but yet we still try to find solace in the things of this world.  We try to find love in this imperfect world.  We spend all we have and get left with no understanding of who we really are, low self-esteem, no self-worth, anger, and hopelessness.

God says that He is love (1John 4: 8).  We can find what we’re looking for in God.  He loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son just to show us how much He loved us ( John 3:16, 1 John 3:16).  He said He would never leave nor forsake us (Deut 31:8)!

And then even those who know Him run around looking to this world for validation.  I’m guilty of that myself.  I know He can and He has healed my brokenheart but yet I still look to man to hear “Ata girl! You’re doing it right!!”  We all suffer from sometimes forgetting just how big and loving our God is.  He wants us to depend totally on Him so that He can lavish us with all the promises He laid out in His Bible.

Oh Father, my cry is that we all will not be like this woman and wait to the very end of our rope to come to you.  I pray that we know that WITH you all things are POSSIBLE but WITHOUT you it is IMPOSSIBLE.  Lord and even for those who are at the end of their rope right now that You will show them that it is NEVER too late, just like in the story of this woman.  Lord I pray that they would see  You and Your open arms!  Lord I pray that those who are hurting will come to You and stop using things that will harm them and make them worse off.

People come to Him and recieve healing for your heart, mind, and body.  He wants to heal you.  He is saying my daughter, my son come to me.  I will give you rest.  I will give you peace.  I will heal you and restore your hope. Lord help me to rest only in You!!! Help us all to rest only in You!!
